Artist’s
Statement
My purpose
as an artist and teacher of artists is:
- To
encourage and revitalize people’s dreams and ability to
accomplish their dreams
- To
present work that make the viewer happy
- To
raise the viewer’s emotional tone, which can’t help
but make their life better
The
field of aesthetics is not a luxury. It is an essential element
of life at its best. Its presence lifts the spirit outside the physical
universe, even though material goods are used to create it. Paint
and canvas, violin and bow, marble and chisel, gold and gems –
all of these are only matter until an artist’s magic transforms
them.
Who
among us has not been uplifted, inspired, awe-struck by a glorious
symphony, an exquisite sculpture, a stunning painting or a jewel
encrusted egg which opens to reveal a more amazing treasure inside?
Art
can make your heart soar – it brings joy! And so I invite
you to enJOY my work!
Artist Biography
Lynne
Oakes is an artist and a teacher of artists. While she paints in
a variety of media, oil painting and watercolor are her primary
interests. Her subject matter includes life in its many aspects:
landscapes, florals, cats, dolls, still life and portraits.
Teaching drawing and painting to aspiring artists
is as important to her as her own artwork. "I feel a responsibility
to pass on to others what they need to create their own work."
Educated in art from her early years, she graduated
from The State University of Iowa and continued with a M Ed. in
Art Education from The Pennsylvania State University. Her entire
family are artists. Her father was a photographer, her mother a watercolor
artist and her sister is a jewelry designer. Her son is continuing
the family tradition as a metal sculptor with an interest in the
performing arts.
Lynne's paintings are in private collections in
the U.S. and Europe. She is also represented in various corporate
collections.
In
her community, she founded an art league that is now over 20 years
old. This is another aspect of her devotion to helping others to
follow their dreams to be artists, and to be in the company of artists.
